Welcome to The Missing Princess

Welcome to The Missing Princess! I've started this blog because I've needed a central point for all my musings on Teddy Ruxpin, Worlds of Wonder, and everything in between. Teddy Ruxpin and the company history behind Worlds of Wonder intrigues me and I hope to some day write a biography on the company. This website serves as a prime location to harbor my information.

To give you some insight as to who I am, and why I've started the site, I've compiled a short list of things that have brought me here.
  • I'm a childhood fan. At the age of 3 on a bright Christmas morning, I opened a present that I would come to love for years: a Teddy Ruxpin. The fact that this magical toy moved mesmerized me and I can recall countless hours spent listening to stories and playing with this parts. • I'm a tinkerer. In middle school, I was introduced to the internet and search engines, and one of the first things I wanted to search was Teddy Ruxpin. My Teddy had become broken (yes, the cherished bear I opened Christmas morning long ago) and I wanted to learn how to fix him or where I could purchase another. To check out some of the oldest, most reputable resources I've used on the internet regarding Teddy, click here.
  • I'm a collector. With access to information on the internet became a way to see so much more that Worlds of Wonder, Playskool, YES! Entertainment, and Backpack Toys produced. I'm a collector of all things Teddy Ruxpin, frequent vintage toy shows, and love to tinker with anything animatronic. I will continue to post about my growing collection and findings here.
  • I'm a researcher. In college, my advisor in the Professional Writing and Book Publishing program told me that I should apply for an Undergraduate Research grant to practice my research and writing skills. The inner geek in me was enthralled with the idea, but I wasn't sure what to research. After much debate, especially after being so shy and quiet about my growing collection of Teddy Ruxpin memorabilia, I decided it was time to be open about my interests and do my research on Teddy's history and the rise and demise of Worlds of Wonder. I'll post a series of blog posts on my research at a later date.

Thank you for visiting The Missing Princess! I hope that it brings you as much enjoyment as it will me. Please pardon any remaining Lorem Ipsum as content gets written. If you're interested in Teddy, have information or have worked with Teddy Ruxpin (as a career, a project, as a collector, and the like), please reach out and contact me! I'd love to get in touch.
